Choosing Your Path in Citizen Sleeper 2: A Class Comparison
At the outset of Citizen Sleeper 2, you'll face a crucial decision: selecting your character's class. Operator, Machinist, and Extractor each offer unique strengths and weaknesses. This guide helps you determine which best suits your playstyle.
The Operator begins with a bonus in Interface, foundational levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer skills. Endure is unavailable for leveling. Their special ability trades Stress for a re-roll of their lowest die.
While powerful later, the Operator can struggle early on. The Interface skill is valuable, but the re-roll ability isn't a guaranteed success. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator's versatility allows for diverse character interpretations.
The Machinist starts with a bonus in Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and lacks Endure. Engage cannot be leveled. Their ability uses Stress to add +2 to their lowest die, and they lose 2 Stress on a positive outcome. This ability improves as the game progresses.
The Machinist proved exceptionally useful in my playthrough, especially given the frequent need for Engineer and Interface checks. The Stress reduction aspect is a significant advantage. This class appeals to players focused on the game's technical and mechanical elements.
The Extractor begins with a bonus in Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface. Intuit cannot be leveled. Their ability sacrifices Stress to add +2 to their crew's lowest die, an ability that upgrades throughout the game.
The Extractor's ability is highly effective for mitigating crew risks during Contracts. The starting Endure bonus is valuable, although the abundance of Endure and Engage crew members later in the game might lessen this advantage. This class suits players who prefer a more physically capable, hands-on approach.
This comparison should help you choose the Citizen Sleeper 2 class that best aligns with your preferred playstyle and character concept.
