Destiny 2

Bungie temporarily disables Destiny 2's Hawkmoon hand cannon in PvP due to an exploit. The popular exotic weapon, frequently sold by Xur, was causing significant issues in Crucible matches.

Destiny 2, a long-running live service game, has a history of bugs and exploits. Recent examples include the overpowered Prometheus Lens and a bug rendering the new No Hesitation auto rifle ineffective against barrier champions. The current Hawkmoon issue, however, is particularly game-breaking.

The exploit involves using the Kinetic Holster leg mod to reload the weapon without canceling its Paracausal Shot perk. This allows players to maintain the damage boost indefinitely, resulting in one-shot kills. Bungie swiftly responded by disabling Hawkmoon in Crucible activities while a fix is developed.

This action follows another recent exploit allowing for easy AFK farming of rewards in private matches. While that exploit was relatively minor, resulting in rewards like enhancement cores and glimmer (with rare deepsight weapon drops reported), Bungie also quickly addressed it by disabling rewards in private matches. The swift responses highlight Bungie's ongoing efforts to maintain game balance and integrity, even amidst positive reception for the recent The Final Shape expansion.
