Bloodmoon Island is an enigmatic location situated to the north of Reaper's Coast in *Divinity: Original Sin 2*. This island is enveloped by a deadly mist known as the Deathfog, which covers the surrounding waters and makes traditional travel impossible. The once-existing bridge that connected the island to the mainland has been destroyed, leaving players puzzled about how to access this crucial area. Reaching Bloodmoon Island not only advances the main storyline but also unlocks various side quests that enrich the game experience.
Unfortunately, the game doesn't clearly explain how to cross the Deathfog and reach the island. Players often find themselves searching across Reaper's Coast for clues. Below, we’ve outlined all possible ways to access Bloodmoon Island and continue your journey through the world of *Divinity: Original Sin 2*.
Although the original bridge connecting Bloodmoon Island to the mainland has been destroyed, its remnants still exist and can be accessed using Spirit Vision. The bridge is located northeast of Cloisterwood, near Jahan’s Post and Witch Alice’s Hut. Upon reaching the site, you’ll also unlock the Driftwood Fields waypoint.
Once there, cast Spirit Vision to reveal the broken segments of the bridge. Some parts are missing entirely or contain traps, making traversal difficult. Fortunately, several methods can help you safely cross:
Parties that include Fane have an alternative route to reach Bloodmoon Island. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the effects of the Deathfog, allowing him to survive the crossing.
A pier located northwest of Cloisterwood is home to an undead ferryman who offers passage through the Deathfog. However, this method comes with a major caveat: if more than just Fane boards the ferry, the Deathfog will kill all other party members. To avoid this, Fane should travel alone. Once he reaches Bloodmoon Island, he can activate the waypoint so the rest of your team can fast travel there safely.
If your party does not include Fane, you can still attempt the ferry crossing using Teleporter Pyramids. This method involves some risk but can work effectively if done correctly:
While this trick works, it’s generally easier and safer to use the spirit bridge method unless you're specifically trying to test this alternative approach.
Lastly, avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman unless you're prepared for the consequences. He can retaliate with a powerful Deathfog spell that instantly kills anyone caught in its range. If you insist on fighting him, remember to quicksave before engaging. Defeating him rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, a basic belt, and 3,750 XP.
