BioWare, although having largely shifted its focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, has pleasantly surprised its dedicated fanbase by discreetly introducing a modest DLC weapons pack into the game. The RPG's Steam page was recently updated to feature the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer, a free add-on that has caught the attention of fans, especially after EA had hinted at minimal future support for the game. This unexpected addition comes as a welcome surprise, especially following the fifth patch in January, which emphasized fixing game-breaking bugs rather than adding new content.
The Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer is exclusively available to current owners of the game and those who purchase it on PC before the deadline of April 8, 2025. While details on what exactly the bundle includes are scarce, players have discovered that it provides access to a set of Watchful skins usable in the Rook's in-game room. It remains uncertain whether this offer will extend to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of the game.
Feedback on this new content has been mixed but generally positive. A Steam review noted, "Even if these appearances aren't the most, uh, beautiful things ever, they do give spooky eldritch horror vibes!" Meanwhile, a Redditor expressed appreciation, stating, "It's cosmetic DLC, but it's essentially free DLC for a game that's practically no longer getting newer content. I'll live with that."

Upon its release in October, Dragon Age: The Veilguard received positive reviews from critics. However, according to EA, it did not manage to "resonate with a broad enough audience." In late January, key members of the development team announced their departure from BioWare, as the studio underwent significant changes with staff either being laid off or reassigned to other projects. EA confirmed to IGN that BioWare would now be dedicating its "full focus" to the next installment in the Mass Effect series.
Despite its challenges, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was included in the PlayStation Plus March 2025 titles, just four months after its initial launch. No further plans for the game's future have been disclosed, leaving fans to appreciate this small but significant addition of the Rook’s Weapons Appearance Offer.
