The registrations for the first Elden Ring Nightreign network test are set to open on January 10. However, this beta test will be available on fewer platforms than the full game, being exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco unveiled Elden Ring Nightreign at The Game Awards 2024. Described as a co-op Soulsborne experience set in The Lands Between, it's designed primarily for three-player parties and is slated for a 2025 release.
As with many multiplayer games, Elden Ring Nightreign will undergo network testing before its launch. Starting January 10, fans can sign up for this limited-time beta via the official website. Although the number of available spots is undisclosed, it's common for such tests to have limited capacity.
Participants can expect to receive their confirmation emails by February 2025, when the test is scheduled. Specific dates for the beta will be announced in the coming weeks. Notably, this test is limited to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, excluding the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, which are also targeted platforms for the full game. FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign will not support cross-platform multiplayer, restricting test participants to playing within their console ecosystem.
While not officially confirmed, it's unlikely that progress from the network test will carry over to the full game. FromSoftware has not yet announced additional betas, but this remains a possibility.
In addition to the lack of cross-platform play, Elden Ring Nightreign will be limited to solo play or parties of three, as the game isn't balanced for duo play. Whether the upcoming network test will include further gameplay restrictions is currently unknown.
