Elden Ring Player Will Fight Messmer Daily Until Nightreign Releases

An Elden Ring player, chickensandwich420, has embarked on a unique challenge: defeating the notoriously difficult boss, Messmer the Impaler, daily until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign. This ambitious undertaking involves using a different weapon each time, achieving a flawless victory (no hits taken), all while playing on NG+7.

The challenge began on December 16, 2024. Initially, chickensandwich420 planned to tackle various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his time. Messmer, the second antagonist from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, presented a formidable, yet focused, target. His reputation for extreme difficulty, with players reporting hundreds of attempts for victory, makes chickensandwich420's feat truly remarkable.

However, the challenge has a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, chickensandwich420 will shift his focus to other games. This self-imposed limit translates to approximately 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone, three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his epic Messmer marathon before Nightreign's arrival remains to be seen.
