New eSports Team Format Debuts at Roland-Garros eSeries 2025 in Tennis Clash

The Roland-Garros eSeries is set to make a grand return in 2025, inviting tennis enthusiasts from around the globe to compete on the virtual clay courts of Tennis Clash. This year, the tournament introduces an exciting new team-based format, with legendary tennis captains at the helm and a substantial €5,000 prize pool up for grabs. Key sponsors Renault and Mastercard are returning, offering players the chance to customize their characters with official Roland-Garros 2025 outfits and the exclusive Renault 5 Roland-Garros string.

When Does It Start?

The Roland-Garros eSeries kicks off in March, with the open qualifiers serving as the initial battleground for players vying for a spot in the finals. The qualifying stages are scheduled from March 6-11, March 20-25, and April 3-8, which will determine the elite contenders. The top female players from the first two qualifiers will join the overall winners in the finals. The ultimate showdown will take place at the Roland-Garros Tenniseum Auditorium on May 24th, in front of a live audience, and the entire event will be streamed live on Twitch.

What’s New This Year?

This year's Roland-Garros eSeries introduces a team-based format, a departure from previous solo competitions. Finalists will be organized into teams, each led by a prominent figure in French tennis. One confirmed captain is Gilles Simon, a former ATP world No. 6 and Davis Cup champion. Simon, who has been involved with the eSeries as a commentator since 2023 and played in the 2024 Top 8, will coach one squad. The identity of the opposing captain, teased to be a Grand Slam winner, remains a mystery.

Once the teams are finalized, the competition intensifies. The winning team from the first phase will advance to the winner’s side of the double-elimination bracket, while the losing team will start in the loser’s bracket. Reigning champion Alessandro ΔLEX Bianco returns to defend his title, joined by the two Grand Tour finalists. With 548,000 participants from 215 territories last year, the competition is expected to be even more fierce this time around.
