Fantastic Four Trailer Shows Thing's Beard, Surfer Voice

Marvel Studios has debuted an action-packed new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps featuring never-before-seen footage.

The preview showcases The Thing sporting a rugged rock beard while being carried through the air by Human Torch. Viewers also get clearer looks at Mister Fantastic demonstrating his stretching abilities, Invisible Woman utilizing more of her powers, and slightly expanded glimpses of Galactus - though the cosmic entity's full reveal remains elusive.

The trailer offers our most substantial look yet at Silver Surfer, complete with her signature metallic voice heralding Galactus' impending arrival. A humorous running gag shows The Thing repeatedly resisting his classic catchphrase, "It's clobberin' time!"

The introduction of The Thing's beard raises fascinating questions - having appeared clean-shaven in previous reveals, this new look suggests significant time passage within the film's third act. This prompts several mysteries: Can Ben Grimm actually shave his rocky exterior? How would that process work? The beard's appearance correlates with other clues indicating the story spans months rather than days, including Sue Storm's pregnancy timeline showing her before and after giving birth to Franklin Richards.

While the trailer delivers plenty of new material, Marvel continues strategically withholding key elements. Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards (complete with his much-debated mustache) demonstrates limited stretching capabilities, but the full scope of his powers remains concealed. Similarly, Galactus' live-action facial reveal remains under wraps, though we do see his massive chest awakening and his ominous presence in an alternate-history New York City.

Notable Absences from Marvel's Doomsday Lineup

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will launch Phase Six of the MCU, introducing Marvel's original super-team to established heroes like Captain America, Thor, and eventually the X-Men in next year's Avengers: Doomsday. Recent comments from director Matt Shakman about Robert Downey Jr.'s potential Doctor Doom appearance created confusion - while seemingly denying the casting, his carefully worded response left room for speculation. What's confirmed is that the film's events directly set up Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for December 2026.
