Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Double-Sized Launch Featuring the Fantastic Four
Marvel Rivals is gearing up for a massive Season 1, boasting double the content of a typical season. This expanded offering is a deliberate choice by the developers, driven by their desire to introduce the Fantastic Four as a unified group. Season 1: Eternal Night Falls launches January 10th at 1 AM PST.
This supercharged season includes three new maps showcasing iconic New York City locations: the Sanctum Sanctorum (launching with Season 1 and introducing the new Doom Match mode), Midtown (for Convoy missions), and Central Park (details to be revealed later).
In a recent developer update, Creative Director Guangyun Chen confirmed the doubled content, explaining the decision to release all four Fantastic Four members together necessitated a larger-than-usual season. Mister Fantastic (Duelist) and Invisible Woman (Strategist) debut with the season launch, while The Thing and Human Torch are slated for a mid-season update approximately six to seven weeks later.
While the expanded Season 1 doesn't explicitly detail the impact on future content releases, it's anticipated that the pattern of adding two heroes or villains per season will continue.
The absence of Blade, a previously rumored addition, has disappointed some fans. However, the sheer volume of new content in Season 1, and the ongoing speculation surrounding the game, keeps anticipation high for future updates from NetEase Games.
