While many achievements in *Monster Hunter Wilds* focus on taking down the game's mightiest beasts, there's a unique challenge that requires you to track down the smallest creature in the game. Here's a detailed guide on how to unlock the elusive 'Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement stands out for its simplicity and yet, its elusiveness. Without prior knowledge, this achievement might easily slip by unnoticed. To unlock it, you must capture a unique endemic life form in the **Windward Plains** known as the **Sandstar**. This tiny creature, resembling a desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, can only be found at night in a specific area.

Since the Windward Plains are often explored during daylight hours in the story, you'll need to wait until nightfall. There are two methods to pass time:

  • Fast Travel – This can be used early in the game once you unlock different fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to access the fast travel menu, and travel between points to advance time until it's night.
  • Rest – Available after completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to rest and choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).

The Sandstar is not only small but also incredibly fast, even when you're sprinting on your Seikret. To make the chase easier, consider gathering **Screamer Pods** beforehand. These can be obtained from **Baunos**, small winged monsters with red bodies found in the Windward Plains. They roam in groups around **Area 11** and **Area 13**, scavenging carcasses. Defeat a few Baunos to collect Screamer Pods, which will prove invaluable.

Once it's night in the Windward Plains, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13 and keep an eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and have your Screamer Pods ready. When you're close enough, shoot a Screamer Pod at the Sandstar to stun it. Immediately switch to your **Capture Net** (used for fishing as well) and throw it at the Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll also receive the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.

This completes the guide on how to achieve the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and guides, don't forget to explore our other content, including how to skip cutscenes.
