Lego has unveiled an exciting new range of sets inspired by the upcoming live-action film, "A Minecraft Movie," starring Jack Black as Steve. These sets provide fans with a sneak peek at some of the mobs and characters they can expect to see in the movie. According to Games Radar, two sets have been announced so far: the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack, which will complement the existing range of regular Minecraft Lego sets.
The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring set hints at an intense gladiator-style battle scene in the film. Priced at $49.99 and containing 491 pieces, this set showcases Jason Momoa's character, The Garbage Man, in combat against a zombie riding a giant chicken. While it's unclear if the depiction is to scale or represents a baby zombie on a regular-sized chicken, the overall height of the zombie and chicken is about twice that of The Garbage Man. In addition to these figures, the set includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a fighting ring, a chest filled with gold, and a small viewing stand equipped with weapons.
The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set confirms the appearance of the Nether's iconic marshmallow-like villain, the Ghast, in the film. This set portrays a significant battle scene set in a regular overworld village. Alongside the Ghast, the set includes a village minifigure, two piglins, Steve, characters named Natalie and Dawn, and an iron golem. This set, priced at $69.99 and comprising 555 pieces, is set to enhance the excitement of fans awaiting the movie's release.
Both sets will be available for purchase starting March 1, a month before "A Minecraft Movie" premieres in theaters on April 4. The film, which was officially revealed in September, faced immediate criticism from fans regarding the disparity between the live-action characters and the green screen-generated animated world. Some fans even went so far as to remake the trailer in a fully animated style. In response to this feedback, the film's director and producer, speaking to IGN in November, acknowledged the reaction but assured fans that they were "ready for everything."
