Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed his enthusiasm for appearing in a potential BioShock movie, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. In a Reddit AMA coinciding with the release of his new film, Novocaine, Quaid highlighted the deep and engaging lore of BioShock, suggesting it could be well-suited for a TV or movie adaptation.
"I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," Quaid shared. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The prospects of a BioShock movie coming to fruition remain uncertain. Last July, producer Roy Lee discussed the project's evolution, mentioning that after leadership changes, the BioShock adaptation had been "reconfigured" to become a "more personal" film. This shift was influenced by Netflix's decision to lower the budget, prompting a more intimate storytelling approach. Despite these changes, details about the movie's plot remain under wraps. Notably, Francis Lawrence, known for directing The Hunger Games, is still set to helm the project.
"The new regime has lowered the budgets," Lee explained. "So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
In the same Reddit session, Quaid acknowledged the striking resemblance between himself and the video game character Max Payne, whose appearance is based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have noted similarities between Quaid's new action movie, Novocaine, and Max Payne, fueling speculation about a possible connection. However, Quaid admitted to being less familiar with Max Payne, though he expressed interest in playing the game soon.
"I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take," Quaid said. "I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid is an avid fan of FromSoftware's challenging games. He mentioned conquering Bloodborne and Sekiro, and is currently tackling Elden Ring. "I'm a huge video game nerd," he confessed. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
