F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax Race onto Switch Online

Launching October 11, 2024

Starting October 11th, Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can enjoy the futuristic racing action of F-Zero: GP Legend and the previously Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax.

The F-Zero franchise, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy, debuted in Japan over 30 years ago (1990). Its innovative gameplay and cutting-edge graphics for its time earned critical acclaim and influenced other racing franchises, including SEGA's Daytona USA. Known for its breakneck speed, F-Zero pushed the boundaries of what was possible on SNES and other retro consoles.

Like the popular Mario Kart series, F-Zero challenges players to navigate treacherous tracks, overcome obstacles, and outmaneuver opponents in intense, machine-to-machine combat. The iconic Captain Falcon, the series' protagonist, even makes appearances in Super Smash Bros.

Initially released in Japan in 2003 (*GP Legend*), followed by a worldwide launch in 2004, *F-Zero Climax* remained a Japan-only release until now. Its arrival marks the end of a 19-year absence for the title, preceding the release of the Switch's *F-Zero 99* last year. In a past interview, F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura cited *Mario Kart*'s popularity as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.

This October 2024 update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack brings F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend to a new generation of players. Experience the thrill of Grand Prix races, engaging story modes, and time trials.
