MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers

MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, a case study in potential unrealized, akin to the infamous Concord debacle. Yet, the game's final chapter is upon us, with the developers unveiling the last two characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This announcement follows considerable fan backlash, some escalating to threats against the development team. MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh responded with a lengthy statement, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.

Huynh apologized to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope they'll enjoy the final Season 5 content. He explained that character selection involves numerous complex factors, and his personal influence is less than some fans believed.

Following the shutdown announcement, players voiced concerns about unspent in-game tokens intended for new character purchases – a perk promised to buyers of the $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have fueled the threats directed at the developers.
