Mythical Island: Essential Cards for Pokémon TCG Collectors

Mythical Island, the latest mini-expansion for Pokemon TCG Pocket, introduces 80 fresh cards, including the highly anticipated Mew Ex. This guide highlights the most impactful additions to the game.

Table of Contents

Top Mythical Island Cards: Mew Ex, Vaporeon, Tauros, Raichu, and Blue

Despite its compact size, Mythical Island delivers exciting new cards capable of reshaping the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta. Let's delve into the standout cards.

Mew Ex

130 HP Psyshot (1 Psy Energy): 20 damage. Genome Hacking (3 Colorless Energy): Choose 1 of your opponent’s Active Pokemon’s attacks and use it as this attack.

Mew Ex is a game-changer. This Basic Pokemon boasts high HP, a serviceable initial attack, and the game-altering Genome Hacking. Its versatility allows integration into existing Mewtwo Ex decks alongside Gardevoir, or even within Colorless strategies.

Vaporeon

120 HP Wash Out (Ability): As often as you like during your turn, you may move a Water Energy from 1 of your Benched Water Pokemon to your Active Water Pokemon. Wave Splash (1 Water, 2 Colorless Energy): 60 damage.

Vaporeon is poised to become a significant threat, particularly against prevalent Misty decks. Its ability to manipulate Water Energy synergizes perfectly with existing Water-type strategies, potentially making them even more dominant.

Tauros

100 HP Fighting Tackle (3 Colorless Energy): If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is a Pokemon Ex, this attack does 80 more damage. 40+ damage.

While Tauros requires strategic setup, its attack is devastating against Ex decks. The ability to inflict 120 damage on any Ex Pokemon makes it a significant counter to popular decks like Pikachu Ex.

Raichu

120 HP Gigashock (3 Lightning Energy): This attack also does 20 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. 60 damage.

Raichu further exacerbates the threat posed by Pikachu Ex/Zebstrika decks. The added damage to Benched Pokemon significantly hinders strategies relying on gradual bench development. Its quick setup in Surge decks adds to its effectiveness.

Blue (Trainer/Supporter)

During your opponent’s next turn, all of your Pokemon take -10 damage from attacks from your opponent’s Pokemon.

Blue is a new defensive card that counters aggressive strategies employed by cards like Blaine and Giovanni. Its ability to mitigate damage can disrupt opponents' plans for quick knockouts.
