Netflix Games is preparing to remove a significant portion of its gaming library, with reports indicating that 22 popular titles will be leaving the platform. This accounts for nearly 20% of the entire Netflix Games catalog, according to sources at What's On Netflix.
Among the departing games are fan favorites such as Carmen Sandiego and the critically acclaimed Monument Valley series. Other notable titles set for removal include Hades, Katana Zero, Dumb Ways to Die, and Braid, Anniversary Edition. While these games will remain available until July, their eventual departure marks a major shift in the streaming giant’s gaming strategy.
As with other subscription-based services like Apple Arcade, licensing agreements often result in periodic content rotations. While it's disappointing to see these titles go, Netflix still plans to maintain a robust lineup of mobile games. Upcoming additions include the WWE 2K franchise, which aligns with Netflix’s recent partnership with WWE, along with anticipated titles such as Rebel Moon: Bloodlines and Yu Suzuki’s Steel Paws.
While the loss of these games is certainly a blow, especially for fans of Monument Valley—a title that even made a cameo in House of Cards—there are still many high-quality games available on the service. Additionally, some removed titles may eventually return to mobile platforms independently, much like Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, which recently launched outside of the Netflix ecosystem.
For now, players are encouraged to enjoy the remaining titles while also keeping an eye out for new arrivals. Although this culling of content might feel discouraging, it reflects the evolving nature of subscription-based gaming services and the constant flow of exclusive content into and out of such platforms.
