Switch 2 Joy-Con Image Shows C Button

Nintendo has officially verified that the rumored new button on the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con is, as expected, the C button.

This confirmation came through the newly launched Nintendo Today! app. Listings on the App Store and Google Play include an image that clearly displays the letter "C" on the button upon closer inspection.

This new button was first shown when the Switch 2 was unveiled earlier in the year. However, initial images of the updated Joy-Con did not show any lettering on it. Earlier reports had referred to it as the "C" button, which has now been substantiated.

There is considerable speculation regarding this button's function. Some theorize it could be for wirelessly "casting" the Switch 2 to a television or for a form of screen sharing. Others propose it might change the Joy-Con's functionality—for instance, switching it to a mouse mode. Additional conjecture links the button to potential new group or voice chat features.

In related news, Nintendo recently held a Direct presentation focused on the original Switch (here is a summary of all announcements). The Nintendo Today! app was unveiled during this event.

Video game icon Shigeru Miyamoto revealed details about the company's new initiative as a final surprise during the showcase. This all-in-one mobile application offers a range of benefits for dedicated Nintendo fans.

Acting as a central hub for Nintendo content, the app functions as a daily calendar and news source, delivering information directly to players as it breaks. Miyamoto illustrated that once the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct airs next week, fans can use the Nintendo Today app to get all the latest updates, with more news delivered on a "daily" basis from that point forward.
