Paid Tour Introduces New Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique digital game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This isn't a free pack-in game, but a separate, paid digital title that aims to introduce players to the new console's features through an immersive virtual experience.

During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Welcome Tour was showcased as a "virtual exhibition" of the new hardware. According to Nintendo, "through tech demos, minigames, and other interactions, players will get to know the new system inside and out in ways they may never have known about otherwise." The Direct provided a glimpse of a small player avatar navigating a larger-than-life Switch 2, exploring its features and learning about its capabilities. The tour includes interactive elements like a virtual museum and engaging minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo.

Nintendo confirmed via stream and press release that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop starting on the Switch 2's launch day. While this tool is intriguing, many fans are questioning why it's a paid, digital-only game rather than a complimentary pack-in for the new console. As of now, no price has been announced.

In addition to the Welcome Tour, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch with titles such as Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. While the Welcome Tour serves as an engaging showcase for the new console, it will compete for consumer spending amidst a strong lineup of launch games.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025, priced at $449.99 USD, with a bundle option including Mario Kart World for $499.99.
