Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: Not an April Fools' Joke, Developer States

Developer Pocketpair has announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set in its massively popular monster-catching universe — and no, it's not an April Fools' Day joke (this time).

On March 31, the team behind 2024's Pokémon-like survival experience revealed its plans to add a romantic twist to its catalog. Normally, such an announcement would be taken at face value, but with April Fools' Day looming, fans are skeptical about Palworld! More Than Just Pals.

Pocketpair wants to reassure the skeptics: *Palworld! More Than Just Pals* is indeed a real video game. The concept originated from their 2024 April Fools' Day stunt, which jokingly announced *More Than Just Pals*. Now, it's becoming a reality and will be available on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.

Palworld! More Than Just Pals adds a unique twist to Pocketpair's universe. The game's description promises an experience where players can befriend and fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals at Palagos Private Academy. The official Steam page introduces characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, drawing names directly from Palworld's creature roster.

"You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy," an official description from Pocketpair stated. "You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

As Palworld celebrated its one-year anniversary in January and continues to roll out updates, fans can look forward to new content while waiting for the dating sim. Recent updates have included crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, photo mode, and more. Meanwhile, those hoping for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld have something to hold onto, but even if a Switch port doesn't materialize, there's hope that Palworld! More Than Just Pals might make it to the console someday.
