Palworld's massive new update introduces crossplay support across all platforms alongside numerous gameplay enhancements.
Update v0.5.0 enables players to store Pal data in the global Palbox and transfer creatures between worlds. The new dimensional storage system offers 10 times the capacity of standard Palboxes, functioning as both shared guild storage and private inventory.
Other quality-of-life improvements include armor transmog (changing appearance without affecting stats), a dedicated photo mode, blueprint upgrading mechanics, and Mac server support. Developer Pocketpair confirms PlayStation 5 dedicated servers are currently in development.
Since its January 2024 early access launch, Palworld has attracted 32 million players. The studio has revealed an ambitious 2025 roadmap featuring new story content and additional features beyond crossplay functionality.
The $30 Steam/Game Pass title broke records at launch, generating such substantial profits that Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe admitted they initially struggled to handle the financial windfall. The studio later formed Palworld Entertainment through a Sony partnership to expand the franchise, culminating in the recent PS5 release.
Despite its success, Palworld faces legal challenges from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company regarding alleged patent violations. Pocketpair has modified certain gameplay mechanics while pledging to "vigorously defend" their position in court.
