How To Get Paradisan Ladder in Avowed
-------------------------------------
There are five primary ways to acquire Paradisan Ladder in *Avowed*: purchasing from Merilyn, the merchant; foraging while exploring; earning it as a side quest reward; breaking down existing items; and downgrading Hylea's Talon.
Merilyn, located in South Paradise (see map above), offers the fastest and most reliable method for obtaining Paradisan Ladder. She typically stocks five units at 150 coins each. She also sells the Many-Hued Doublet and the Common Grimoire of Elements, both of which yield additional Paradisan Ladder when broken down (two units each).
Note that her inventory doesn't seem to replenish, even after resting. Nevertheless, she's your best bet for a quick upgrade boost.

Paradisan Ladder plants appear in the wild and sometimes in cities like Paradise. Look for the plant icon on your mini-map (indicated by the red circle above) to locate them. While other plants may resemble Paradisan Ladder, actively searching your immediate surroundings while progressing through quests is an effective way to steadily accumulate this resource.
Completing side quests often rewards you with crafting materials, including Paradisan Ladder. The early quest "Escape Plan," for instance, provides two units. While requiring additional effort, this method offers simultaneous XP gains and other valuable rewards.
Disassembling items in *Avowed* yields base crafting materials like Softwood Branches and Iron Chunks. However, you can also recover Paradisan Ladder from higher-tier items already upgraded with it. For example, breaking down a Common Sword upgraded with Paradisan Ladder will return some of the herb. Check merchant inventories for unique items with Paradisan Ladder listed in their breakdown details.

Once you reach Emerald Stair and acquire Hylea's Talon, you can downgrade each Talon into three units of Paradisan Ladder at your party camp workbench. Navigate to the "Crafting" tab, then select "Downgrade" from the "Upgrade Materials" section. This is particularly useful if you wish to switch weapon types and quickly upgrade your new choice.
