To pause your game in Monster Hunter Wilds, simply bring up the menu by pressing the Options button. Then, navigate to the Systems tab using L1 or R1, and select the Pause Game option by pressing the X button.

This feature is incredibly useful, allowing you to pause the game completely, even in the midst of a hunt or combat. You can resume your adventure easily by pressing the circle button or R3. This is especially handy when real-life interruptions occur, requiring you to temporarily put the game on hold.

Even when playing online, as long as you’re in single-player mode with no other players in your lobby or party, you can pause the game at any time.

Can You Pause While Playing Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, pausing the game is not an option when playing Monster Hunter Wilds in multiplayer mode. If you have someone in your lobby or link party, or if you're part of someone else's, the game cannot be paused. Your best strategy in such situations is to position your character in a safe spot to avoid taking damage.

Remember, in an online session, traditional pausing isn't feasible. Also, keep in mind that the monster's HP pool increases with more players, so try not to go AFK for too long, as your team might need your help.

And that’s how to pause your game in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more tips and information on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist.
