People Can Fly, renowned for their work on Bulletstorm and as co-developers of Gears of War: E-Day, has recently entered into an agreement with Sony Interactive Entertainment to work on a new game, codenamed Project Delta. According to a report from People Can Fly, Project Delta is slated to be developed as a work-for-hire project, though specifics about the game remain under wraps.
The studio is currently juggling a diverse portfolio of projects, each identified by codenames. Among these are Project Gemini, developed in collaboration with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw the layoff of 30 developers last year; Project Echo with Krafton; Project Red, also potentially linked with Sony; and the VR-focused Project Bison, which was recently declared as People Can Fly's last venture into virtual reality.
In recent months, People Can Fly has had to make tough decisions regarding some of its projects. Last December, the studio announced the suspension of Project Victoria and a scaling down of Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they also cancelled Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these setbacks, People Can Fly continues to manage a robust lineup of eight projects, including the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in collaboration with The Coalition. While a release date for Gears of War: E-Day has not been disclosed, Project Gemini, in partnership with Square Enix, is expected to launch in 2026.
