Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive
The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon TCG Pocket will not be entering the competitive scene anytime soon. Dive deeper into what this means for the game's future and explore the potential reasons behind this decision.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Won’t Be In The Competitive Scene Just Yet

No Plans For Competitive Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

As of now, there are no plans to include Pokémon TCG Pocket in Pokémon's competitive circuit. Chris Brown, the Director of eSports at The Pokémon Company, shared during a VGC interview on February 25, 2025, that while they continually assess various titles for inclusion, Pokémon TCG Pocket isn't on the immediate horizon. He humorously mentioned "Pokemon Sleep" as well, referencing the company's playful April Fool's trailer for a Pokémon Sleep Champion Tournament. However, he made it clear that "at this time, there are no plans for Pokémon Pocket to join, but we're always looking at things."

Too Early And Unbalanced

Pokémon TCG Pocket Has No Plans To Go Competitive

While The Pokémon Company hasn't explicitly stated why Pokémon TCG Pocket is not yet part of the competitive scene, fans have their theories. The game, launched in October 2024, is still in its infancy, having released just two sets in its first four months. Although the app includes competitive features from the start, the community has urged developers to address ongoing balancing issues. Pokémon TCG Pocket is designed as a more simplified, beginner-friendly version of the original Pokémon card game, suggesting that a highly competitive environment isn't its main focus.

Despite this, the Pokémon Competitive Circuit continues to offer numerous events for fans, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and Pokémon Unite, all set to be highlighted at the Pokémon World Championships in August 2025 in Anaheim, California.
