"Next Pokemon Event Might Disappoint Switch 2 Fans"

If you're eagerly anticipating news about Pokemon titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, you might want to temper your expectations for the upcoming Pokemon Presents on February 27. Since the inception of the franchise with its debut on the original Game Boy in the 90s, Pokemon has been a staple on Nintendo platforms. However, it seems that the transition to the Switch 2 might take a bit longer than fans would hope.

As of now, Nintendo has not officially unveiled the Switch 2, though they've confirmed its existence and backward compatibility with the original Switch. The new console is expected to be revealed within this fiscal year, and according to leaks, it will be a beefed-up version of the original. Despite this, Jeff Grubb has indicated that the upcoming Pokemon Presents will focus on games developed for the original Switch, which will still be playable on the Switch 2 due to its backward compatibility.

No Switch 2 Pokemon Games at the Next Pokemon Presents

The Pokemon Presents on February 27 is expected to provide updates on ongoing live-service games like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. The spotlight, however, is likely to be on Pokemon Legends: Z-A, set for release on the original Switch later this year. So far, only a teaser trailer has been released, showcasing the Lumiose City setting, some returning Pokemon, and the return of Mega Evolutions. There's also buzz about another main series Pokemon game slated for release this year, separate from Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the anticipated Generation 10 games. Speculation suggests it could be remakes of Pokemon Black and White or another installment in the Let's Go series, both intended for the original Switch rather than the Switch 2.

Historically, Pokemon games have often remained on older hardware with larger user bases. A notable example is Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, which launched on the DS instead of the 3DS. It appears this trend might continue, with the first major Pokemon titles exclusive to the Switch 2 potentially being the Generation 10 games. While none of this is officially confirmed, fans will need to stay tuned to the Pokemon Presents on February 27 for the latest updates.
