January’s first week is in the books, and it's time for the next Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour event this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, prepare your Poké Balls and Berries for this Spotlight Hour.
Pokémon GO is renowned for its monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a highlighted Pokémon with a chance to catch a Shiny. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming event.
The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour runs Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week features Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, offering a double opportunity to snag Shiny versions. Both Pokémon provide significant combat advantages, boosting your damage output.
With two Pokémon featured, stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. These items increase your chances of catching Shiny Pokémon and aid in evolution. Ensure you have ample storage space, as you'll likely catch many Pokémon during this hour.
Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), from Generation I (Kanto), is tradable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching it yields 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode with 50 Candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb delivers considerable damage. As an Electric-type, it takes increased damage from Ground-type Pokémon (160%) and reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel types (63%). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), offering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny variant exists.
Hisuian Voltorb (#100), also from Generation I (Kanto), shares Voltorb's trading and transfer capabilities, evolution requirements, and CP stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack). It's also an Electric-type but with different type matchups. Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types deal 160% damage, while Grass, Steel, and Water types deal 63%, and other Electric types deal 39% damage. Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage. A Shiny variant with a black body exists.
