As January draws to a close and the new year unfolds, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have plenty to celebrate. The much-awaited trading feature has officially launched today, accompanied by the exciting new Space-Time Smackdown expansion!
So, how does the new trading system work? It's designed to mimic real-life card trading, allowing you to swap cards with friends. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. Only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) are eligible for trading, and you'll need resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make exchanges. Despite these restrictions, it's a significant addition to the game.
But that's not all! The Space-Time Smackdown expansion introduces legendary Pokémon like Dialga and Palkia to TCG Pocket. Alongside them, you'll find the Sinnoh region starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, plus a host of other exciting cards to discover.

However, the trading feature has received a somewhat chilly reception from the community. While I believe it's a valuable addition, the numerous caveats have caused some dissatisfaction. I think Pokémon TCG Pocket might have been better served by either omitting trading entirely or making it as unrestricted as possible, without the need for resources or limitations on tradable cards. Fortunately, there are indications that the developers are monitoring feedback closely, suggesting that improvements could be on the horizon.
