The PlayStation Portal has never been discounted, but you can now snag a used one at a great price. Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) is offering the PlayStation Portal in Used: Like New condition for just $150.23, shipped. This represents a significant 25% saving off the original $199 retail price. While a Sony warranty might not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we anticipate quick sell-outs.

Update: The price has dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price yet for a Used: Like New unit.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory designed for the PS5 console. It resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen nestled in the center. This device transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming system by streaming games at up to 60fps. It retains the signature DualSense features like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface in lieu of the traditional touchpad. The Portal allows you to stream games even outside your home, provided you have access to a highly stable and fast internet connection. Remember, the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to operate.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a new feature allowing owners to stream games directly from the PlayStation Now cloud streaming service. This means you can access over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, without a PS5. To utilize this feature, you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, which costs $18 a month—a far more appealing option than purchasing a $500 console and additional $70 games.

It's worth noting that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar functionality by using the PS Remote Play app on other devices, such as the Steam Deck. However, setting this up is more complex, and you'll miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy**

"The PlayStation Portal is an unexpectedly delightful device. My initial skepticism turned into genuine appreciation as I found it to be a far superior experience compared to using a phone with a makeshift controller. It offers the freedom to play my PS5 games from anywhere with decent Wi-Fi coverage, which is a game-changer, especially when competing for TV time at home. The device's dependency on a PlayStation 5 is its major drawback, along with the absence of web browser login for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth audio support. Despite these limitations, the PlayStation Portal is the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play currently available, making it a must-own for PS5 owners interested in handheld gaming."
