Relic Entertainment, the acclaimed developer behind Company of Heroes, is set to launch a new turn-based strategy game titled Earth vs. Mars this Summer on PC via Steam. In this innovative title, players are tasked with defending Earth from a Martian invasion by harnessing the power of the Splice-O-Tron to create unique "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids." Notable examples of these hybrids include the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly, adding a creative twist to strategic gameplay. The game draws inspiration from the beloved Nintendo DS classic, Advance Wars, promising a familiar yet fresh experience for strategy enthusiasts.
According to Relic, the narrative unfolds with Martians, who have been secretly abducting humans and animals for decades to harvest their atomic essence, now launching a full-scale invasion. Players take on the role of Earth's commanders, leading a resistance against Martian forces equipped with advanced technology like saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors. It's a desperate fight for survival, where strategic decision-making and the innovative use of hybrid creatures will be key to turning the tide.

Earth vs. Mars offers a comprehensive gaming experience, featuring a 30+ mission single-player campaign, online multiplayer where players can choose to represent either Earth or Mars, a challenging VS Mode against the game's AI, and a versatile map editor for custom gameplay.
“We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the Advance Wars style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles,” remarked Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell. He further elaborated on the company's new strategy, which includes not only continuing to develop the traditional RTS titles they are known for but also venturing into smaller Indie-style games. This approach aims to explore new sub-genres, foster creativity, and allow for more frequent game releases. If you're intrigued by Earth vs. Mars, you can wishlist it on Steam now.
