Star Wars Celebration has unveiled our first glimpse of Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Season 2 of Ahsoka, following the tragic passing of Ray Stevenson. For those new to the series, McCann now carries the mantle of Baylan, a character that Stevenson had brought to life with remarkable depth and intensity.
Although we haven't yet seen McCann in action, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration provided an exciting first-look image, which you can view below.
Ray Stevenson, celebrated for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, sadly passed away from a brief illness just three months before Ahsoka's premiere. Stevenson's portrayal of Baylan was widely regarded as a highlight of the series, leaving big shoes for McCann to fill.
Ahsoka's creator, Dave Filoni, expressed the immense challenge of losing Stevenson, describing him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off." The team at Star Wars Celebration shared further details about what fans can anticipate in Season 2, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, along with appearances by Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and other beloved characters.
In our review of Ahsoka's first season, we noted that "the series initially struggles to bring viewers up to speed on characters and concepts from Dave Filoni's animated Star Wars shows. However, once the narrative finds its footing, Ahsoka delivers a captivating blend of rich lore, humor, and epic battles that resonates with the spirit of classic Star Wars while paving the way for innovative storytelling."
