That's an impressive $80 less than Black Friday prices and matches the cost of its XM4 predecessor. This is the lowest price we've ever seen for this model. Many consider the WH-1000XM5 to be the best noise-canceling headphones under $400.
Sony WH1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee
"The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the significant upgrade we've been waiting for from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities while the ambient listening mode feels splendidly natural. The audio quality is impeccable, whether you're listening to intricate classical music or enjoying a rocking action movie—these headphones can handle it all."
The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 is equipped with a second processor and twice the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The earcups have been redesigned to fit more snugly on the ear, creating a better seal and, as a result, more effective passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation is noticeably better than that of the XM4 and surpasses most other noise-canceling headsets in its price range.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 also features a sleeker redesign with a different style of headband adjustment. The band is wider than before, providing better weight distribution, and the earcup padding is now made of a luxurious synthetic leather material that's softer and more comfortable. You can wear these headphones for hours with ease. One minor drawback is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, making it less compact.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 retains the XM4's excellent battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge, even with ANC activated. The XM5 also supports fast charging over USB Type-C.
Best of all, at this price, the XM5 is significantly less expensive than its competitors like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise-canceling headphones, you should definitely take advantage of this deal.
