Nintendo has confirmed that regular content updates for Splatoon 3 will cease. However, the game isn't entirely abandoned; holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with ongoing monthly challenges, weapon adjustments, and balance patches as needed.

The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes! Updates for weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being."

Launched two years ago on September 9th, Splatoon 3's shift away from active development has fueled rumors of a sequel. Speculation centers on Splatoon 4, particularly after some players noticed potential easter eggs or hints within the Grand Festival event, suggesting a new game setting.

Responding to images of a futuristic city within the game, one fan commented, "Doesn't look like Inkopolis. Perhaps the setting of Splatoon 4?" Others, however, remain unconvinced, pointing out similarities to existing locations.

While no official announcement exists, Splatoon 4 rumors have circulated for months. Reports suggest Nintendo has initiated development of a new Splatoon title for the Switch. The Grand Festival, as the final major Splatfest, further strengthens fan belief in an imminent Splatoon 4 release.
