Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.
This isn't the only addition to the original 2000 release. Aspyr is significantly expanding the roster of playable characters. Jar Jar joins nine other newly revealed characters, with more promised before launch. The updated game also boasts customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, enhancing the nostalgic experience.
The newly announced characters bring diversity to the lineup. Beyond Jar Jar, players can control a Rodian, Flame Droid, Gungan Guard, Destroyer Droid, Ishi Tib, Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Weequay, and a Mercenary. This expands on the already impressive selection from the original game, featuring iconic characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace.
Jar Jar Binks' inclusion, while unexpected, is complete with his signature chaotic dialogue. He won't be wielding a red lightsaber, defying the "Darth Jar Jar" fan theories. Instead, his gameplay revolves around his staff.
The game launches on January 23rd, but pre-orders are open now. Aspyr aims to deliver an updated experience that satisfies fans' expectations, drawing from lessons learned during the re-release of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. With numerous new characters and enhanced features, this reimagining of Jedi Power Battles promises a fresh yet familiar adventure for longtime fans.
