Stardew Valley offers more than farming; shrewd players seek diverse profit sources, including gemstones. These valuable items are useful in crafting and as gifts. While mining for rare gems can be time-consuming, the Crystalarium provides a solution. This remarkable device replicates gemstones and minerals, significantly boosting profits. This guide covers obtaining and using Crystalariums in the latest game version (updated January 6, 2025).

Obtaining a Crystalarium

Unlocking the Crystalarium recipe requires reaching Mining Level 9. Crafting necessitates:

• 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks on your farm or in the Mines.
• 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using Coal in a Furnace.
• 2 Iridium Bars: Mine Iridium in Skull Cavern or obtain it daily from the Statue of Perfection (smelt as above).
• 1 Battery Pack: Collect these after a lightning rod is struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.

Alternative Acquisition Methods:

• Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault section.
• Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to Gunther's museum.

Using the Crystalarium

Place your Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular location for mass production. It replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards).

Production Times and Profitability:

Quartz has the shortest production time but low value. Diamonds offer the highest profit despite a 5-day production time.

To relocate or change the gemstone within a Crystalarium:

Hit it with an axe or pickaxe to retrieve it. A gem currently being replicated will also drop. To switch gems, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gemstone; the old one will be ejected.
