Sun Wukong

The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on the success of popular titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend goes beyond mere inspiration; it exhibits significant similarities to Game Science's acclaimed Black Myth: Wukong. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot synopsis strongly suggest direct imitation.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future remains uncertain. Given the apparent plagiarism, Game Science could pursue legal action for copyright infringement, potentially leading to the game's removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, battling for order in a chaotic world teeming with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, breathtaking locations, and legendary enemies.”

This closely mirrors the premise of Black Myth: Wukong, a Chinese mythology-based epic adventure that unexpectedly surged in popularity, topping Steam charts. Black Myth: Wukong boasts exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging, skill-based combat. While incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre, its accessibility makes it enjoyable for both veterans and newcomers.

The combat and progression systems are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides while still demanding strategic thinking. Visually, the battles are stunning, showcasing fluid animations. The game's greatest strengths lie in its captivating setting and visual design, immersing players in a breathtaking fantasy world with remarkable character and environmental artistry. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards.
