At Gamescom 2024, Eclipse Glow Games, a China-based studio, shared insights into Tides of Annihilation's design during an interview with Wccftech. The game's development was influenced by their financial backers, Tencent, who have different expectations for their projects. While Black Myth: Wukong aimed at the Chinese market, Tides of Annihilation was crafted with a Western audience in mind, leading to the choice of Arthurian legends as its theme. The game's producer envisioned a narrative centered around knights, ultimately focusing on King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Set in a modern-day London devastated by an Outworld invasion, Tides of Annihilation follows the journey of the heroine Gwendolyn, who appears to be the last human survivor. The game blends contemporary settings with fantasy elements, drawing heavily from Arthurian myths.

Devil May Cry-inspired Combat and Over 30 Bosses

The combat system in Tides of Annihilation echoes the style of the classic Devil May Cry series, a fact acknowledged by the developers. They described it as "definitely more like Devil May Cry" but with a customizable difficulty setting to cater to a broader range of players. The game offers simple controls for those new to action games, enhancing its accessibility.

Players can tailor their combat style with four weapon choices and command over ten different Knights of the Round Table.
