With the 25th anniversary of the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise fast approaching, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has confirmed that Activision and he are collaborating on a special project to commemorate this milestone.
During a recent appearance on YouTube's Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed the exciting news, stating, "I've been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting. We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly." While specifics remain under wraps, Hawk assured fans that the project will be "something they'll truly appreciate."
The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999, propelling the franchise to immense commercial success with numerous sequels. The 2020 release of the remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 (THPS 1+2) was well-received, and plans for remastered versions of Pro Skater 3 and 4 were initially underway but ultimately canceled due to the closure of Vicarious Visions.
In anticipation of the anniversary, the official THPS social media channels unveiled new artwork and announced a giveaway for the THPS 1+2 Collector's Edition. This, coupled with Hawk's recent announcement, has fueled speculation about a potential new game reveal, possibly during a rumored Sony State of Play event this month. While unconfirmed, the possibility of a new installment or the continuation of the previously scrapped remaster project remains exciting for fans.
