Assassin's Creed: Shadows Unveils Enhanced Gameplay, Focusing on Yasuke and Naoe
Ubisoft's latest article highlights the exciting gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, specifically detailing the equipment and progression systems for the playable characters, Yasuke and Naoe. A significant improvement to the iconic Hidden Blade is also showcased.
Yasuke and Naoe each boast unique skill trees reflecting their distinct fighting styles. Yasuke, a master of samurai techniques, offers a different path compared to Naoe, who specializes in the stealthy arts of the shinobi. Skill points earned through gameplay can be invested to unlock new weapon abilities or enhance combat styles. Players earn mastery points by tackling open-world challenges and defeating formidable foes, such as the elite Daisyo samurai.
Ubisoft assures balanced character progression, preventing one character from outpacing the other. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as investigating a mysterious shinobi clan. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, which progresses by studying ancient texts or performing rituals at shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks access to a new skill tree.
The game's equipment system features five tiers of quality: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade and visually customize their gear at a blacksmith. Special armor and weapon perks promise to significantly impact gameplay.
The Hidden Blade makes a triumphant return as the ultimate assassination tool, capable of instantly eliminating enemies with a single, swift strike.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
