Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2: A DRM-Free Experience
Saber Interactive has confirmed that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will launch without DRM (Digital Rights Management) software. This announcement, made ahead of the game's September 9th release, addresses concerns about performance impacts often associated with DRM.
No DRM, No Microtransactions
The developers clarified in a recent FAQ that the game will be free of DRM such as Denuvo. While DRM is frequently used to combat piracy, its impact on game performance has been a source of contention among players. Past examples, like the Enigma DRM issues in Monster Hunter Rise, highlight these potential downsides.
Anti-Cheat and Future Plans
While launching DRM-free, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat on PC. Although Easy Anti-Cheat has faced scrutiny in the past (notably in relation to an Apex Legends hacking incident), its inclusion aims to maintain fair play.
The developers have also stated that there are currently no plans for official mod support. However, the game will offer a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Importantly, all gameplay content will be available to all players; microtransactions and paid DLC will be limited to cosmetic items only.
