Holding On To Marvel’s Wolverine Updates

Insomniac Games has shared their ambitious roadmap for the future, but they've remained tight-lipped about new developments on the much-anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. In a recent interview with Variety, Co-Head Chad Dezern emphasized that while the team is excited about ongoing projects, they are not ready to disclose any information on upcoming releases. Dezern neither confirmed nor denied a 2025 release for Marvel's Wolverine, stating, "As much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it."

Marvel’s Wolverine First Announced in 2021

Marvel's Wolverine was first announced during the PlayStation Showcase 2021. Insomniac Games unveiled the project with a cinematic teaser trailer, confirming its development for the PlayStation 5. In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Bryan Intihar, the Creative Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine is set in the same universe as Marvel's Spider-Man, known as universe 1048. While fans hoped for a crossover event or shared teasers, the only connection so far is a Wolverine-themed suit named "The Best There Is" available for Miles Morales in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

In December 2023, Insomniac Games suffered a ransomware attack, which briefly exposed Marvel's Wolverine's development assets and gameplay showcase to the public.

Insomniac Games Current Projects

Insomniac Games announced that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be coming to PC on January 30, 2025, as revealed during New York Comic-Con 2025. They have clarified that there will be no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. However, the PC version will include all updates from the PS5 release, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. The game will be available in two versions: Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
