Hearthstone Unveils StarCraft Mini-Set: Release Date Announced

Hearthstone enthusiasts have much to look forward to with the upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, which is set to launch on January 21. This exciting addition to Hearthstone's The Great Dark Beyond expansion is not only the largest Mini-Set in the game's history with 49 new cards but also a thrilling crossover with Blizzard's iconic StarCraft universe. The Mini-Set introduces a unique blend of class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a special neutral Legendary card, Grunty, promising a fresh and dynamic gameplay experience.

The Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set was first announced during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, sparking curiosity and excitement among fans. Initially, only basic details were shared, but as we approach the release date, more information has come to light. The Mini-Set includes 11 more cards than the typical Mini-Sets, with each Hearthstone class receiving three new cards. Additionally, each of the three StarCraft factions – Zerg, Protoss, and Terran – is represented by five cards tailored to specific Hearthstone classes.

For those eager to dive into the new content, the Zerg faction cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, revolve around summoning numerous Zerglings and utilizing the Hydralisk to maximize damage based on swarm size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards, accessible to Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, focus on mana manipulation to facilitate the deployment of high-cost cards like the Carrier. The Terran faction, which benefits Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior, introduces new Starship mechanics from The Great Dark Beyond set, including Starship Pieces and a unique Mech-themed Starship.

While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is a boon for players, it does come at a higher price. A full playset of the Mini-Set costs $20 or 2500 gold, a slight increase from the standard Mini-Set price. An all-Golden version is also available for $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, players can purchase just the Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards for $10 or 1200 gold, offering more flexibility in how players can engage with the new content.

To celebrate the release, Hearthstone is hosting two special streamed events: StarCast on January 23 at 10 AM PST, featuring renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9, and HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST, where Hearthstone community creators will showcase the new faction cards in matches and mini-games. Viewers of these events on Twitch can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, adding even more value to the excitement surrounding the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set.
