The Digital Transformation of Devarattam

This app was developed as part of my initiative "The Digital Transformation of Devarattam," honoring Kalaimamani recipients.

Renowned figures including Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kumararaman (retired teacher), Kalaimani Mr. M. Kannan Kumar, and Kalaimani Mr. K. Nellai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti have been honored with the prestigious titles of KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR respectively for their contributions to Devarattam.

I dedicate this app to these legendary figures, my mentor Mr. E. Rajakamulu, and the beloved pioneers of Devarattam.

The Devarattam app aims to promote awareness about Devarattam and its distinguished awardees.

Within the app, I've documented details about Devarattam—a traditional folk dance from Tamil Nadu—originally performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community and continued today.

The dance comprises 32 foundational steps, with variations extending up to 72 steps.

Devarattam

Devarattam performers dance gracefully while clutching kerchiefs in both hands and wearing anklets (Salangai), accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the traditional percussion instrument Deva Thunthumi.
