Atomic Heart, the ambitious first-person adventure shooter developed by Mundfish, has officially surpassed 10 million players just two years after its February 2023 launch—marking a monumental achievement for a debut title from an independent studio.

While the 10 million figure represents unique player accounts (not necessarily units sold), it underscores the game’s massive global appeal and lasting impact. Available across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Atomic Heart has been celebrated for its bold artistic vision, cinematic storytelling, and innovative fusion of atompunk aesthetics with surreal Soviet-era alternate history.

The game quickly emerged as a standout in the FPS landscape, earning over 60 "Best of the Year" accolades from major gaming publications and award shows. Critics and players alike praised its distinctive blend of psychological horror, satirical dystopia, and inventive combat mechanics—often drawing comparisons to BioShock and Doom, but with a uniquely original voice.

Mundfish has since released three narrative-driven DLC expansions, including The Trenches, The House on the Edge of the World, and The Forged, each deepening the lore of the alternate USSR and enriching the player’s journey through the mysterious, malfunctioning world of P-360 Research Facility.

With a fourth DLC currently in development, and a strong community still engaged, Atomic Heart continues to evolve beyond its initial release.

In a strategic move to support the broader creative ecosystem, Mundfish has launched Mundfish Powerhouse, a new game support service aimed at helping independent studios and investors bring ambitious, high-quality projects to market. The initiative reflects the studio’s journey from "unknown" to industry leader, and signals a commitment to empowering future innovators in gaming.

As Atomic Heart approaches its third anniversary, it stands not just as a commercial success, but as a cultural milestone—a proof point that bold, original storytelling and visual artistry can still define the next generation of AAA gaming.

🎮 “Atomic Heart is a wildly imaginative, atompunk-inspired successor to titles like BioShock… demonstrating the ambition and heart to compete with the industry's best.”
