How To Obtain Armadillo Scutes

These armored mammals appear exclusively in warm regions:

• Badlands
• Eroded Badlands
• Savanna
• Savanna Plateau
• Windswept Savanna
• Wooded Badlands

Players encounter Armadillos traveling in small groups. When startled, they instantly curl into defensive balls - approach cautiously to prevent this reaction.

Passive Collection Method

Similar to chickens laying eggs, Armadillos naturally shed Scutes every 5-10 minutes. While requiring no tools or effort, this method proves inefficient for players needing large quantities.

Active Brushing Technique

The preferred collection method uses Brushes:

• Craft Brushes using Feather, Copper Ingot, and Stick (vertical center column)
• Successful brushing yields one Scute per attempt
• Java Edition Brushes survive four uses
• Bedrock Edition permits five uses
• Combine damaged Brushes (including Enchanted variants) for repair
