For the past two years, LEGO has been meticulously crafting its most ambitious project yet: a minifigure-scale recreation of Hogwarts Castle, immortalized by the Harry Potter franchise. This expansive build is designed as a modular system, composed of multiple standalone sets released over time and sold separately. The journey began in Fall 2024 with the launch of the Great Hall, and now continues with the release of the Hogwarts Castle: The Main Tower.

The Main Tower is the second major installment in this interconnected series, joining a growing collection of ancillary sets such as Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class (Set #76431), Hogwarts Castle Owlery (Set #76430), Hogwarts Castle: Flying Lessons (Set #76447), and Hogwarts Castle Boathouse (Set #76426).
Despite being part of a larger ecosystem, the Main Tower functions perfectly as a standalone set—especially appealing to fans of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, as it recreates pivotal scenes from the first book and film.

Like the Great Hall, the Main Tower opens at the back to reveal a series of intricately detailed rooms and dioramas that bring key moments from the movies to life. The build begins with the underground chambers leading to the Sorcerer’s Stone. From left to right: the Devil’s Snare room, the Flying Keys chamber, and the grand Wizard’s Chess room.
Each room features interactive elements. The Devil’s Snare rises and lowers from the ceiling via a cleverly hidden switch integrated into the rockwork. The Flying Keys spin on a central pedestal, simulating flight. The giant chess pieces are fully detachable and movable, perfect for re-creating the dramatic final match.
The set includes minifigures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron—essential for bringing these scenes to life. While the design prioritizes authenticity over open-ended play, each room faithfully captures a specific moment from the story rather than serving as a generic roleplay space. In total, the set comes with 12 minifigures: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas, Marcus Flint, Percy Weasley, Ernie Macmillan, Lisa Turpin, Professor Dumbledore, Professor Kettleburn, and Nearly Headless Nick.
Above the underground chambers lies Fluffy, Hagrid’s three-headed dog, resting atop the trapdoor. The room includes a detailed harp—crafted from two hinged builds that form its elegant shape—referencing Professor Quirrell’s method of lulling Fluffy to sleep. A side door leads to a narrow hallway and an exterior balcony, adding depth and visual interest.
The next level houses the Gryffindor common room, richly decorated in red and gold. It features a cozy bedroom with two beds, a lounge area with armchairs and a fireplace, and an uneven floor that creates a sunken living space—giving the room a warm, intimate atmosphere.
Each room is a separate build with its own instruction booklet, making it easy to assemble with a partner, friend, or family member. The modular design allows for independent construction and seamless stacking. Connection points between levels ensure stability while still allowing for easy disassembly—ideal for rearranging scenes or focusing on individual sections during play.
Typically, sets of this scale and complexity are rated 18+. However, the Main Tower—and the entire Hogwarts Castle series—is rated 10+, striking a thoughtful balance between display-worthy detail and accessible playability.
After completing the lower levels, you construct the roof and begin stacking the five-story Main Tower. The first three floors feature Hogwarts’ legendary moving staircases, inspired by Rowena Ravenclaw’s magical design. Two staircases rotate on platforms, enhancing play dynamics. Portraits line the walls, and a gargoyle on the third floor guards the entrance to Dumbledore’s office.
The fourth floor is dedicated to Dumbledore’s office, one of the most meticulously detailed spaces in the set. Adorned with portraits of past Headmasters and an array of magical artifacts, it captures the wonder of the films. To the right of the desk sit the Sword of Godric Gryffindor and the Pensieve. On the left rests the Sorting Hat, complete with a sculpted mouth near its brim. This room stands out as a highlight—perfect for recreating heartfelt story moments between Harry and Dumbledore.
The final piece is the towering spire, which houses the Mirror of Erised on the fifth and topmost floor. Mounted on a rotating base, the mirror flips between two scenes: one showing Harry with his parents, and the other depicting him holding the Sorcerer’s Stone—a touching nod to the story’s emotional core.
In scale, the Main Tower is impressive—standing over two feet tall from base to spire. When combined with the Great Hall, the exterior forms a seamless, immersive facade. Together, the interiors create a breathtaking display of Hogwarts’ most iconic moments, packed into a compact footprint.
There’s a clear sense of intention behind this project. Unlike the previous LEGO Hogwarts Castle, which felt piecemeal and open to fan interpretation, this version follows a cohesive master plan. It’s evident that LEGO’s designers aren’t improvising—they’re working toward a definitive, fully realized Hogwarts Castle, likely already conceptualized in full, whether in physical form or digital design.
Completing the entire castle will take years. But if LEGO maintains this level of craftsmanship and narrative fidelity throughout the journey, the final result will stand as one of the greatest LEGO achievements in history.
