Civilization VII's 2025 launch is just the beginning! Firaxis has ambitious plans to keep the game fresh and exciting throughout the year with a steady stream of updates. Here's a look at what's in store for Civ VII players in 2025.

Civilization VII 2025 Roadmap

Here's a quick overview of what Civ VII players can expect this year:

Feb. 6	Early Access begins for Deluxe and Founders Edition owners.
Feb. 11	Global launch!
Early March	Crossroads of the World: Ada Lovelace, Carthage, Great Britain, and 4 new Natural Wonders. 1.1.0 Major Update, Natural Wonder Battle, Bermuda Triangle.
Late March	Crossroads of the World: Simon Bolivar, Bulgaria, Nepal. 1.1.1 Update, Marvelous Mountains, Mount Everest.
April to September	Right to Rule: 2 new Leaders, 4 new Civilizations, and 4 new World Wonders.

Civilization VII Free Updates

Firaxis is committed to providing free updates based on player feedback. Initial updates will focus on balancing gameplay, squashing bugs, and improving overall quality of life.

Beyond that, the development team's top priorities include:

Adding team-based multiplayer for cooperative play.
Expanding multiplayer games to 8 players across all ages, refining the Distant Land system.
Giving players the option to choose their starting and ending ages for more flexible gameplay (single or double-age games).
Introducing a wider variety of map types.
Adding hotseat multiplayer.
