Paradox Interactive has unveiled its ambitious plans for Crusader Kings III in 2025, launching Chapter IV: a year dedicated to expanding the game's reach into Asia with new mechanics and regions.
The chapter begins with the recently released Crowns of the World cosmetic DLC. This stylish pack offers players six new crowns, four hairstyles, and two beards, providing ample options for personalizing their rulers.
Next up, on April 28th, arrives the first major DLC, Khans of the Steppe. This expansion lets players take control of the Mongol hordes as the Great Khan, leading nomadic armies to conquer vast territories and establish dominance across the steppes.
Following Khans of the Steppe, Coronations will introduce a significant ceremonial mechanic, allowing players to legitimize their rule through elaborate coronation events. These events involve hosting lavish celebrations, making crucial oaths, and shaping the future of their kingdom. New advisor and vassal events will also enrich political gameplay. Scheduled for release in Q3 2025 (July-September), this DLC adds considerable depth to royal succession.
The year culminates with All Under Heaven, a massive expansion arriving later in 2025. This expansion dramatically expands the game's map to encompass all of East Asia, including detailed representations of China, Korea, Japan, and the Indonesian archipelago. Players will have access to vast new territories to explore and conquer.
Between these major DLC releases, Paradox will continue to release patches focused on refining game systems and improving AI behavior. The developers actively encourage player feedback to shape future updates, with the next community Q&A session scheduled for March 26th.
