Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: A Console Testing Update from Toby Fox
Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the console testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. While significant progress has been made, with fewer bugs reported, extensive testing remains. Fox specifically noted that PlayStation 5 testing hasn't even begun.
Beyond bug fixing, the team is actively working on a feature to import save data from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo (console versions) into the full release of Chapters 3 and 4. This functionality, recently made possible by newly acquired technology, is still under development, with Fox expressing hopeful anticipation for its success.
The positive beta testing progress suggests an imminent release. Fox has previously confirmed a 2025 release window for Chapters 3 and 4.
Amidst the development intensity, Fox shared a humorous anecdote about a minigame he's creating for Deltarune. His family interpreted it as a "cry for help" due to the game's delayed release, while a friend found it hilariously amusing. This sparked speculation that the minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's previous statement that Chapters 3 and 4 were content-complete in 2024.
Interestingly, the same friend who played Chapter 3 over a year ago expressed missing a character named Tenna. This seemingly obscure comment confirmed Tenna's inclusion in the upcoming Chapter 3. Tenna was initially glimpsed during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign for Child's Play in September 2022.
Deltarune, the spiritual successor to Undertale, retains many of the original game's mechanics while introducing a fresh narrative and characters. Players will continue their adventure alongside Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their world-saving quest.
