Elden Ring

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion finally unveils the mystery surrounding Dragonlord Placidusax's missing body parts. This formidable boss, encountered in a weakened state lacking three heads and a wing, has had his history significantly clarified. The expansion reveals that two of his missing heads are embedded in the neck of Bayle the Dread, another powerful boss. Furthermore, Bayle appears heavily scarred from their epic battle, missing wings and limbs, suggesting a brutal, mutually destructive encounter.

The Talisman of the Dread, found in Elder's Hovel, provides further context. Its description details a challenge issued by Bayle to the ancient dragonlord, resulting in "grievous mutual injury." Despite their wounds, both remain formidable foes, boasting substantial health pools and complex, challenging attack patterns. Bayle's aggressive fighting style presents a unique difficulty, hindering the use of Spirit Ashes at the encounter's outset.

While the fate of Placidusax's third head remains unknown, the evidence strongly suggests Bayle's involvement. The discovery provides a compelling narrative element to Elden Ring's already rich lore and deepens the understanding of these two challenging bosses and their legendary confrontation.
