Nintendo has officially refuted claims by accessory maker Genki regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 showcase at CES 2025. The company stated that images and videos circulating online are not official and that Genki was not provided with any Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
In statements to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper, Nintendo clarified that the 3D-printed mockup displayed by Genki at CES 2025 is unauthorized. The company emphasized that Genki's claims of possessing a functional Switch 2 unit and possessing knowledge of a release date are inaccurate.
Genki, an American manufacturer of gaming accessories, including controllers, SSDs, and chargers, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by presenting what it claimed was a 3D-printed model of the upcoming Switch 2. The company even features a detailed animated mockup on its website dedicated to future Switch 2 accessories.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo remains tight-lipped about the Switch 2's official specifications and release date, only confirming previous statements about backwards compatibility with Switch 1 games. This recent denial suggests Nintendo may be planning a formal announcement of the console in the near future.
